Power Factor Controller หรือ PFC เป็นอุปกรณ์ที่ใช้ในการประมวลผลค่า Power Factor ว่าเป็นไปตามที่กำหนดหรือไม่
ค่า Power Factor คือค่าประสิทธิภาพทางไฟฟ้า โดยปกติแล้ว ประสิทธิภาพทางไฟฟ้าที่ดีคือ kW/kVA = 1 แต่เมื่อมีการใช้งานไฟฟ้ามากเกินไป จะทำให้ค่าประสิทธิภาพทางไฟฟ้าลดลง ซึ่งอุปกรณ์ Power Factor Controller จะช่วยสั่งให้ Capacitor Bank ทำงานจ่ายไฟในส่วนที่เกิน
โดยปกติแล้วการใช้ไฟฟ้าในโรงงานมักจะไม่คงที่ เนื่องจากมีการเกิด Load ไฟฟ้า ดังนั้นการติดตั้งคาปาซิเตอร์เพื่อปรับปรุงค่าตัวประกอบกำลังไฟฟ้า (Power Factor) จึงจำเป็นที่จะต้องมีระบบควบคุมเพื่อ control การตัดต่อคาปาซิเตอร์ให้เหมาะสมกับ Load เพื่อเพิ่มคุณภาพของไฟให้ดีขึ้น โดยปรับค่า PF จากการไฟฟ้า ซึ่งตัวควบคุมตัวนั้นเรียกว่า Power Factor Controller
